Haiti Mission Trip: Video #2 – Mission
Haiti Mission Trip – April 2018 // Video #2 – The Mission
We are so excited to announce the next phase of the project, a mission trip! The focus of the project is to deliver basic school supplies to children in need.
In January 2010 Haiti was hit with a large-scale earthquake. It occurred in January 12, 2010 hitting the Caribbean islands including the island of Haiti and the Dominican Republic, but Haiti was MOST severely affected. The nation’s capital, Port-au-Prince, a densely populated city located about 15 miles from the quake’s epicenter, suffered widespread devastation. The official Haitian government count was more than 300,000, but other estimates were considerably smaller. Hundreds of thousands of survivors were displaced.
It left over 200,000 people dead and some 895,000 Haitians homeless.
Even before the earthquake, Haiti, was the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere, with 80 percent of its 9 million residents existing in poverty. Political corruption and violence, disease, malnutrition and limited access to education were a way of life for many in Haiti. That’s why the Strength In Scripture team is focusing on education centers, schools and children.
Our team will be taking 60 backpacks stuffed with basic school supplies, books and toys. We want to give children necessary tools to study and excel. According to our calculations the cost of each backpack will be about $8.50.
This is a special opportunity to help those truly in need. If you would like to help support this project with supplies or finances, please let us know. One more thing, since we have no overhead expenses, meaning all volunteers are traveling on their own dime, and the project is sponsored with donations of the Strength In Scripture project, 100% of your donation goes directly to providing basic school supplies. We invite you to partner with us and support the HAITI project!!!
Please consider helping us make this project a success and continue to be Strengthened In Scripture.
