Honor Your Parents

411views

So far the first four commandments have related to our relationship with God as our Creator and Redeemer. The next six commandments govern our relationship with each other as humans.

“Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you” (Exodus 20:12).

This commandment is like a transition between the preceding commandments and those that follow. It is rooted in an understanding of God’s sovereignty and authority as our Heavenly Father. But it is even more far-reaching. It introduces the most basic unit of Christian society—the family. The father and mother are entrusted with authority over the family entity and children are required to honor their parents.

Join us as we discuss and break down the meaning of the word “honor” and the hidden blessing within the 5th commandment!
