Two worshippers: the pharisee and publican – which type of worshipper are you? [S02E33]

The parable of the Pharisee and the Publican compares and contrasts two types of worshippers. While most Christians have certainly heard of this parable, do we really understand its profound meaning?

In Luke 18:10, we read: “Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.”

Who was the Pharisee and who was the publican?

“The only safe position for any of us to take is to consider ourselves sinners, daily needing divine grace. Mercy through the atoning blood of Christ is our only plea. … The ones whom God justifies are represented by the publican rather than by the self-righteous Pharisee.
